Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are complex mental health conditions that significantly impact a person’s relationship with food, body image, and overall well-being. They often involve harmful patterns of eating, exercise, and weight control.

Understanding Eating Disorders
There are several types of eating disorders, including:
- Anorexia Nervosa: Characterised by severe calorie restriction, excessive weight loss, and a distorted body image.
- Bulimia Nervosa: Involves cycles of binge eating followed by purging behaviours such as vomiting, excessive exercise, or misuse of laxatives.
- Binge Eating Disorder: Frequent episodes of consuming large amounts of food in a short period, often accompanied by feelings of guilt or shame.
Causes of Eating Disorders
The exact causes of eating disorders are complex and vary from person to person. However, a combination of factors often contributes to their development, including:
- Genetic Predisposition: Family history can increase the risk.
- Psychological Factors: Low self-esteem, perfectionism, and body dissatisfaction
can play a significant role. - Sociocultural Influences: Unrealistic beauty standards and societal pressures can contribute to the development of eating disorders.

Seriously, the worst medical centre. It shouldn’t be called Friendly Medical at all.Posted on Google Aaron Curwen-WalkerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Disgraceful experience at this practice. I had been in a high speed motor vehicle accident and was initially handed to an intern who had no clue about what pain meds I needed. Due to her ineptness, Dr Albarki had to take over and was rude, unsympathetic and never took my significant injuries seriously. And worse, he seemed to think I was faking my pain all just to get painkillers!
